This designer has been around for sometime and has made her rounds in the design blogosphere. Dana Tanamachi is a graphic designer and custom chalk letterer from Brooklyn, New York. I wanted to post about some hand lettering examples and her work came to mind. Hand lettering type is a fun challenge. The composition in which she works requires even more patience, skill, and planning.
What I enjoy most about her work is that she doesn’t allow the medium to pigeon hole her into one style. You can see many examples of a more whimsical style as well as a more masculine, hard lined, style. Often times, as designers, we can lean too hard on technology. Take a stab at your own hand lettering project. Be patient. You’re an awesome designer.
